Woodland Walk of the Week: Worsley Woods

Beech trees in Worsley Woods
22 June 2016

Give a walk through Worsley Woods a whirl this weekend. The woods stretch across approximately 30 hectares from the historic Bridgewater Canal to the East Lancashire Road.

The woodland is a beautiful area to walk through and is surprisingly tranquil considering its proximity to the M60. Kempnough Brook flows through the majority of the woods and wildlife enthusiasts should keep an eye out for the wide range of birds and invertebrates that have been recorded here.

There are numerous routes that you can take with entrances at Beesley Green, Greenleach Lane and via the looplines. If you would like to follow a route, Salford Community Leisure put together a walk of just over 2 miles starting from Beesley Green which can be accessed here: http://www.salfordcommunityleisure.co.uk/sites/default/files/uploads/documents/1%20Beesley%20Green%20Community%20Centre%20-%20Worsley%20Woods%204ppA6_Layout%201.pdf

A map of the woods complete with a wildflower trail is available here: http://www.visitsalford.info/documents/worsleywoodsmap.pdf

There is limited parking at Beesley Green and in and around Roe Green if coming visiting by car. Greenleach Lane is on the bus routes for both the number 12 and 68.
